Library Clerk Needed

The Scandinavia Public Library is currently accepting applications for a library clerk. The library clerk is responsible for providing library services related to lending library materials and handling monetary transactions at the library. Library services include circulating materials, answering reference questions, maintaining patron confidentiality, and assisting with programming.

Candidates must be 18 years of age or older and hold a high school diploma or the equivalent. Courteous customer service, good organizational skills, and excellent computer skills are also required. Experience with children and young adults is beneficial. Experience in graphic design, website maintenance, and/or maintaining social media is highly desirable.

Training for library specific tasks will be provided. The library clerk will work about 21 hours per month plus additional time as needed during training and to maintain library coverage during staff absences due to vacation, illness, or other reasons.

The library is open the following hours:
Monday 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Tuesday 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Wednesday Closed
Thursday 9:00 am – 6:00 pm
Friday 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Saturday 9:00 pm – 1:00 pm
Sunday Closed

The library clerk will work primarily during library open hours, with time for opening and closing the library. Special events may require working outside of this schedule a few times per year. While efforts will be made to maintain a regular work schedule, some flexibility in scheduling will be necessary.
