Sun Fun!

Learn about the sun, moon, and solar eclipses!

Plan to:
Share books about the sun, moon, and solar eclipses.
During a solar eclipse, the moon nearly covers the entire sun. The sun is 400 times larger than the moon. How can this be? We’ll explore this together!
Create eclipse chalk art.
Obtain a pair of solar-viewing glasses.
Make a case to store your glasses in.

These activities will fill an entire hour. Plan to attend the entire program.
These activities are geared towards kids ages 7-12, however anyone with a positive outlook may attend. Younger children should be assisted by a teen or adult.

Sun Fun! Is in preparation for the annular solar eclipse on October 14, 2023 and full solar eclipse on April 8, 2024. Bring your solar viewing glasses to the library for our Solar Eclipse Party on Saturday, October 14!
