2022 Oceans of Possibility Summer Reading Program

The Scandinavia Public Library offers a summer reading program from June 1 through August 31.

We encourage readers of **all ages** to participate!

(For information on Story Time, Crafting Bee, and Book Group programs, please see our calendar page.)

Sign up yourself or your family:

Record each day you read* or are read to at least 20 minutes using:

  • Beanstack on your mobile device or desktop computer, -OR-
  • Paper logs you turn in at the library (Log sheets can be obtained at the library or downloaded from the Oceans of Possibility Resources page)

*Reading includes books, ebooks, magazines, newspapers, online fiction, audiobooks and e-audiobooks, reading to or being read to by someone else. Time can be consecutive or broken into smaller segments throughout the day.

We've created the North Atlantic on the library's ceiling! Each reader will have a Viking ship with their name on it. Each day you read will move your Viking ship a little farther across the Atlantic Ocean from Norway! How far will your ship travel by the end of the summer?

Also, we know those Vikings get hungry, so readers will earn Book Bucks when they reach reading milestones:

  • $3 Book Bucks certificate when you reach Iceland (22 days of recorded reading), and
  • $4 Book Bucks certificate when you reach Greenland (44 days of recorded reading), and
  • $5 Book Bucks certificate when you reach Newfoundland (66 days of recorded reading)

Book Bucks can be redeemed for goods and services at the following businesses:

  • Country Chic Boutique
  • Little Norway
  • Odin & Freja's Place
  • The Runestick
  • ScandiHus
  • Silver Lake Lanes
  • Sliced Pizza Co.
  • Trout Bum Bakery

We'd like to extend a big thank you to our local business partners:
