Whale of a Tale Book Group

Three Musketeers.jpegThe Scandinavia Public Library, the Sturm Memorial Library (Manawa), and the Waupaca Area Public Library will host a nine-week, virtual Whale of Tale Book Group on Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. beginning Thursday February 24th and concluding April 21st

As the name implies, the Whale of a Tale Book Group’s goal is to read books that are great in stature, measured both in the number of pages and literary status. Each novel will be broken into smaller sections to read and discuss weekly over the course of 8-10 weeks, with new books selected on a semiannual basis.

Readers from all libraries in the Outagamie Waupaca Library System and beyond are welcome to join the group.

The book chosen for the inaugural discussion is The Three Musketeers, by Alexandre Dumas.

Written in 1844 and set in 1625, The Three Musketeers recounts the adventures of d'Artagnan who travels to Paris to join the heroic Musketeers of the Guard, fighting for chivalry and justice. By turns full of adventure, intrigue, romance, and humor, the book remains a stalwart classic in world literature and a favorite of readers all over the world.

Multiple editions of the book are available in Infosoup, and electronic copies are available through several outlets. Those who register for the Book Group are also invited to the Whale of Tale Facebook group where links to the online Zoom discussions and supplemental information about the book and author will be available.

Zoom meeting links will also be available a couple of days before each discussion on the Scandinavia Library's online calendar and on Facebook. For those without virtual access, some arrangements to participate may be available from the individual libraries.

Anyone interested in joining the Whale of Tale Book Group can contact the Scandinavia Public Library (715-467-4636 or sca@scalib.org), the Sturm Memorial Library, or the Waupaca Area Public Lbrary.
