Substitute librarian wanted
Scandinavia Public Library seeks a tech-savvy, service-oriented person with excellent communication skills and a customer service background to help conduct the day to day business of the library. Responsibilities for this position include checking materials in and out, assisting patrons with reference questions and computer needs, shelving, keeping order, enforcing policies of the library, answering the phone, handling monetary transactions, and shelving materials. Strong technology skills are an absolute must. The starting wage is $10.00/hour.
Qualifications: Courteous customer service, good organizational skills, excellent computer skills, and a high school diploma are required. Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, electronic devices, and the internet is required. Experience in a public or school library setting is desired.
Library hours are: Mondays 2PM to 6PM; Tuesdays 2PM to 6PM; Thursdays 9AM to 1PM and 2PM to 6PM; and Fridays 2PM to 6PM; and Saturday 9AM to 1PM.
Time of work is during library hours, with some time before opening and/or after closing. This position is for approximately 4.5 hours per week. During training more hours per week are likely. If applicant has skills and interest in child, teen, or adult programming, more hours may be available.
